At Decatur Family Dentistry, we take pride in offering high-quality removable dentures to both new and existing patients who have lost some or all of their teeth. Our dentures are custom-designed to fit each patient’s unique dental structure, providing a reliable and aesthetically pleasing solution for tooth loss.

To create these dentures, our team at Decatur Family Dentistry begins by taking detailed impressions of the patient’s jaw, teeth, and gums. We also gather precise measurements to ensure a perfect fit. A model of the denture is then crafted, tested, and refined until it meets the patient’s specific needs for color, shape, and comfort. Once finalized, the model is sent to a dental lab where the permanent denture is made. When the denture is ready, we will fit it to the patient’s mouth, making any necessary adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and function.

We offer two primary types of dentures at Decatur Family Dentistry:

Conventional Full Dentures and Partial Dentures, each catering to different tooth replacement needs.

Conventional Full Dentures are ideal for patients needing a complete set of upper and/or lower teeth. After the gums have fully healed from any extractions, we take detailed impressions and measurements of the patient’s jaws and gums. These are used to create a custom model for the future denture. After adjusting the model for a precise fit, it is sent to the lab to create the final denture. Once ready, we will ensure it fits securely and comfortably.

Partial Dentures—often referred to as Dental Bridges—are designed to replace one or more missing teeth. Beyond their cosmetic benefits, bridges help prevent the remaining teeth from shifting into the gaps left by tooth loss. A standard bridge involves placing crowns on the teeth adjacent to the empty space and attaching a replacement tooth to those crowns. We ensure that the replacement tooth matches the patient’s natural teeth for a seamless appearance.

At Decatur Family Dentistry, we emphasize the importance of regular follow-up visits to maintain the fit and comfort of your dentures. Over time, adjustments may be needed to ensure they continue to fit properly. It’s also important to clean your dentures regularly with a soft-bristle toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleanser to prevent plaque buildup. Typically, dentures should be replaced every 5-10 years, and we recommend consulting our dentist to determine if it’s time for a refit or replacement.
